Glorious sunshine brought the Bluegrass Spring Pony Series outdoors last weekend with a superb track by course designing supremo Will Crean, which proved to be both inviting and testing as the series reached the half way point in the competition.

With its usual hub of excitement, the Connell Hill leg of the Bluegrass Under 10s delivered some more edge-of-the-seat action and heart-stopping thrills with Lewis Trenier and ‘Trendy Taz’ taking the honours this week in a time of 25:86, and series leaders Yiayan Evans and ‘Princess Judy’ taking second place points in a time of 26:33 with Katie McEntee and ‘Super Sonic’ finishing in third with 26:45.

The hotly contested Bluegrass 128 1:05 class saw Natasha Kerr and 'The Nut Cracker' deliver an impressive round which kept her in top spot in a time of 28:20 with John McEntee and 'Lurgan Daragh' finishing second with 29:64. Trudie McCoosh and 'Rotherwood Dinky Toy' finished third in a time of 31:70 and Victoria Thompson and 'Sparkling Mr Tigger' finished fourth with 33:06. MORE

Following  on from a fantastic start to the Bluegrass Spring Pony Series at Portmore and Eglinton the series moved to MacKenzies Equestrian Centre in Randalstown where first class family hospitality and superb show jumping delivered by David Nicholls was on the menu with Yiyan Evans and Lewis Trenier going head to head once again with an electric atmosphere setting the stage for the next round of the Bluegrass Spring Pony Series with some adrenaline-pumping show jumping on display.

Yiayan Evans and the super pony ‘Princess Judy’ delivered an eye-wateringly fast round to capture the spoils in the Bluegrass Under 10’s in a time of 36:46 with Lucy Morton and ‘Tynnan Bugsy’ taking second in 39.31 and Tadhg Clarke and ‘Alloy’ finishing in third in 40.59. Cavan man Lewis Trenier delivered a spine-tingling performance and super speedy round in a time of 36:03 but a pole on the ground left him in fourth place. MORE

In a weekend packed with the best in top-class pony show jumping entertainment, combinations from near and far took centre stage at Portmore Equestrian Centre and Eglinton Equestrian Centre to kick off the inaugural BlueGrass Spring Pony Series which will run over the five weeks in the run up to the RDA qualifiers.

Every new season brings with it new amazing up and coming talent in Ulster Region and this year was no exception with Lewis Trenier and  Yiayan Evans battling head-to-head with some tight turns and hairpin bends to produce first and second spots at both Portmore and Eglinton in the Bluegrass Under 10s.

Alex Finney and her loyal partner 'Some Journey', very much on form in this series claimed third place in Portmore and another super round secured an impressive win in the Eglinton Bluegrass 128 1.05m on Sunday setting her up in a good position as the series moves to MacKenzies Equestrian and RDA Coleraine at the weekend. Ulster Region's FAB FOUR Compete in France this weekend

Rachel HoustonJessica JohnstonFionn Clarke & Tyrone Flanagan have done Ulster Region Showjumping proud at lastweekend's Fontainebleau CSIOP

Saturday's Nations Cup - After the draw, France inherited the opener up in the main class of Saturday afternoon, the Nations Cup judged over two rounds, a spot not easy to accomplish. The team did quite well in the 1st round but British riders realized the perfect score with a double clear in the two rounds, guaranteeing their first success ever in the Nations Cup of Fontainebleau, after their gold medal (team and individual) last year at the European Championships. Germany put pressure on British chef d’equipe Katrina Moore but one fault too many led German team to the final 2nd place. Ireland and Belgium, for their comeback to Fontainebleau after several years of absence, ended the class with equal score of 16 pts. Denmark and Norway did not start in the 2nd round.

Rachel Houston was part of the Irish squad which finished equal-third in the Fontainebleau Nations Cup on Saturday 20th April with Team GB taking the honours. Rac
hel also WON the Fontainebleau CSIOP 1.25 on Saturday morning and finished 9th in Friday's 'Fontainebleau CSIOP 1.25' riding her proud mum
Joanne Houston's 'Blessington Grange Mist'. Fionn Clarke and Knockroe Little Mike finished 5th in CSIP 1.20 Two Phase. Well Done Everyone!     Click Here for Fontainebleau In Pictures
